    After months of saving and several setbacks, I am going to the USA. I am going to get WIND Mobile's roaming package but am wondering if the STV-001 will work with this package in the USA

    US version is the same STV100-1 so frequency wise you will be fine

    Do you know which carrier WIND uses in the US for their roaming? I think that makes a difference as to the coverage depending on that and where you will be in the US.

    I'm pretty sure Wind (now Freedom Mobile) uses T-Mobile as their main roaming partner in the USA - I believe they both use the AWS bands

    You don't need the "wind" thing... go into any WalMart & buy a prepaid SIM with data some working with any network found... very cheap

    Fine for out going calls, and emails. Forwarding incoming calls to an international # can be problematic, and forwarding texts isn't supported by most. Works great and saves money for some folks, but not one size fits all.

    The other problem with buying a SIM in the U. S. is that it'll give you a different number that you'll have to give out to anybody you want to be able to contact you. The different number will also show up on caller id so people will screen your calls. Depends but sometimes it's better to get an add-on with your home carrier and keep your number when travelling.

    my third time going, last time was 2006, parents took us. I was younger and living with them still. But this one's all on my and my GF.

    I'm gonna get me a data package, and we'll just use my phone for internet if we need it and there's no wifi.
