Straight from Chen,he can't keep enough Priv's made for the demand. 125,000 Priv's sold and BlackBerry is back. Here's the proof straight from BlackBerry
    An estimated 125,000 plus Priv's sold...-img_20160205_010505.png

It's an estimate, not from Chen or BlackBerry, but I'm not surprised. Only positive is it drove their ASP up $75. Still. I know were talking limited availability but damn that's rough. 125k. Ouch.

This article is a mess. It's referring to Q2 2016 in hindsight, like it already happened. I wouldn't trust this even if it is an estimate.

sounds like a reasonable estimate to me with only 4 countries and should increase over time. just not sure if this alone will make the 5m units mark, maybe with the Vienna.

125,000 device is not very good to be honest BlackBerry is in no way back after rumors of 35% layoffs in my home town and creator of BBM leaving. If that what the number is then this is a bit of a nail in the coffin. I am a BlackBerry loyalist so i really hope not but that is a really sad number!

I wonder if BBM is still profitable for BLACKBERRY or if they realize there's big competition from an existing market such as whatsapp etc that is pretty big on android already?

Might explain why the creator was cut if they're going a different direction.

Well bbm offers almost no value added compared to whatsapp, so why would anyone switch back?
It is the best IM platform but it does not offer enough to claw users away from their 'comfortable ' messaging apps.

Well laying off people certainly doesn't indicate many sales.

This is quite unfortunate, but can't say I'm surprised.

The strategy is wrong with the Priv.
Limited availability is only going to harm sales.

    What is wrong with Blackberry?

BlackBerry doesn't use calendar quarters so the nomenclature is correct.

Actually the Play Store still only says 50,000 downloads for the Priv apps. If they sold over 100,000 devices it would say 100,000 downloads.

true, possibly no need for much men power, but at the same time if the sales were really strong they would have kept those employees.

ps: i wonder if everything is okay for the BB employees that come to this forum..i hope all is good for them
