Figured I'd post this little tidbit:

Press and hold the power button to bring up your Power off and Reboot options
    Press and hold Power Off
Press OK the reboot in safe mode

To get out of safe mode, just do a normal reboot.

Interesting but ... could you elaborate about what the safe mode is/bring ?
Is it similar to what Windows user are probably aware of (i.e : limited drivers/capabilities load for troubleshooting) ?

Looks like it disables any third party apps on the boot following switching to that mode. Possibly handy, a neat function.

Safe mode disables any third-party apps. You can then go in and remove any harmful apps

Another reason for safe mode.. I have been having some signal issues and BlackBerry had me go into safe mode to disable all third party apps to see if something there was causing the issue

I don't understand exactly what is the safe mode. Can you explain it in details please?

Safe mode removed icons from my home screen, but fortunately not any apps.

The next step is placing your device into safe mode.

When used, Safe Mode will disable any third party apps or games you have installed. As a result of this, should your device not exhibit the issue while in Safe Mode it’s safe to assume the issue is specific to an app or game you have installed.

Press and hold the power key
Tap and hold Power off when it appears
When prompted, tap OK to reboot to Safe Mode

To get out of Safe Mode, press and hold the power key followed by tapping Reboot.

After testing, should your device not exhibit any issues, the next step is to remove recently installed applications one by one until the issue is resolved.
