I remember hearing at one time that the LTE radio kills battery life. I went into my settings and turned off my LTE and use just 2G, 3G, 4G. I have zero need for LTE sppeds on my phone for maps or for messaging. If I ever need it ill jist enable it for that one time in a million that I do need to stream a HQ movie or something. I am just curious if it actually saves battery life. I have to do a weeks test without it then enable it and use it for a week. Reason I really disabled it was not batter but siginal, I would get 1 bar LTE in my hoise but when I disabled it I got 5 bars 4G. I would rather have a stronger slower radio then a low fast radio. Just curious what others think.

I have my Priv on full power LTE. It's always 1-2 bars. Never kills battery life. It's 2:39AM and I started the day before at 8AM and Im still at 34% remaining.

Check to see you updated all your Blackberry Apps.

It is true that if you only have 2G on, then you get a longer battery life. But what's the point if you charge daily?

I think when you have a weak LTE signal it's better for turn it off. Constantly switching between two signals needs more battery. AFAIK this is the same between 2G and 3G/4G.
I do it the same way with my Z10. Most time I don't need LTE speed and therefore turn it off.

Yeah all apps are upto date. And I remember for some reason that searching for a signal killed battery life. Because the LTE is so weak I figured it was doing me more harm then good. like I said ill do a test for a week and then compare

Download the Speed Test application to compare speeds on 4G and LTE. This will give you a better indication of effective signal strength.

LTE consumes less battery power on standby than HSPA.

If you're going to drop down to save power you have to go all the way to 2G.

So great idea, I tested on 4G 4 bars, then turned LTE back on and was only at 1 bar attached are my results, almost 6 times faster on just 1 bar, wow didnt think would be that good. All apps closed WiFi turned off.
