    REAL soon now!
It's here! Nice work. It looks like 120fps. Is the hardware keeping it from doing 240fps? Also, is there a way to add sound in the future?

    Thanks!

BlackBerry released a camera update last nights that added slow motion video recording.

Are slow motion recordings supposed to look this pixelated and low res?
If it's a technical limitation, why is the file saved as 720p?

I wouldn't call an HD video pixelated. Anyway, the max you may get should be 1080p@120fps but don't expect a better res than that. In fact, a 4K@30fps vid should weight as a 1080@120fps. Maybe it's in the works ;-)

This is a screenshot of a slomo video. What I mean is - look at these jaggies. Video looks more like 480p than 720p.

1080p60 regular speed is totally fine.

looking at the cam app that came installed, it has a slow-mo video option. as long as you are storing the video on your device or are using a class 10 micro card, it should work

The 120fps videos will be 720p.
On top of that, since the sensor has to be operated in a 4x pixel-binning mode, you may see some artifacts in areas of high contrast. This is typical of high-speed recording modes on other phones, and is required to circumvent the bandwidth limits of the bus between the camera sensor and the ISP.
See the following for some good technical info:

FYI, 1080p60 also uses binning, but only 2x2 pixel binning, so the artifacts will not be as obvious until you zoom in further during recording.
If you are curious, you can see the difference between binning and non-binning using the photo viewfinder -- zoom in as far as you can, and capture a screenshot. then take a picture. The screenshot from the preview may look a bit more jaggy than the captured photo, since it is operating at a much higher framerate with binning, whereas for still capture, since 40+ fps isn't needed, the full sensor resolution is used.
