    Is there a way to switch the orientation of the content displayed on a large screen monitor via the BlackBerry SlimPort while the smartphone is seated in the dock and the video adaptor connected to the USB port at the back of the dock?

    Rotate device, activate rotation lock, then place on dock? I have neither the Priv nor an Android device to test this myself, but that's where I'd start.

    I will try your suggestion though I was hoping to keep the smartphone display in portrait mode.

    No, it is a feature that BlackBerry needs to address in the next update.

    Haha no I meant take it up with Verizon as to why I don't have a Priv to better help you troubleshoot your issue. Definitely something BlackBerry (or Google, if it's an OS limitation) needs to address.
