Hello, I was wondering does the Priv deserve the price it has? And will people buy it at that price? I hear people saying they should not sell it cheap but for a BlackBerry phone should it be as expensive as a iPhone 6S or a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge? Will people buy the Priv at such a high price and ignore a iPhone or a Samsung?

Some people like sliders and keyboard phones, so yes... some people feel it is worth that price.

If I had to choose between a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and a Priv at the same price I would choose the Samsung but of course that's my opinion

That would be a poor choice because that phone has poor battery life, no sd card, and is loaded with bloatware that cannot be turned off. All makers of smartphones have their flagships. Priv is a little high on the price side, however so is the iphone and other flagships. Buy what you like, but s6 edge has a bunch of issues that the priv does not.

Sounds to me like you are here to bash on the PRIV. To question the price tag is understandable, but don't say BlackBerry has to nothing new to offer when it clearly does. Please remind us of any other sliding flagship phone on the market right now.

I believe also that the Priv should be priced approx 50 euro less in Europe.

I personally think that Blackberry should have priced the device at 579.00 US.

This would have made folks who might have been on the fence about looking at the brand again take a chance.

That would have made it less expensive then the S6, Edge Plus and the Note 5. OK, they might have given some back on the profit per unit, but would have made it up on the volume.

But who I am I, just a loyal user who still preaches the brand here in the USA when most folks have forgotten it ever existed.

Well, it dropped to $650 US, so it's getting better. And that's for the bundle - leather flip case and sync pod.

I bought an LG g3 for 600 a little over a year ago. Bought the priv at tmo last Saturday. Was willing to pay the 720 it was listed for but they let me have it at 689. Absolutely no regrets here. I love this phone.

I wouldn't buy a Samsung any sooner than an iPhone. Just don't think they're all that.

I have both, the Priv is clearly worth more than the Edge. The Edge was so cool when it came out but actually using it is a very poor experience. The Priv is lovely to use.

I think the Priv was priced a little high. PKB, additional security over standard Android, and monthly updates make it worth the price for me.

Having a built in keyboard makes this device worth it.

If you have to hammer out long emails then this device clearly fits the shoe!

If you consider that other devices have keyboard add-on accessories that sell for $100. The Priv has the keyboard accessory attached all the time and neatly hidden. The price of the Priv is in line with add-on keyboards.

Totally agree. I was checking out the S6+ when the Priv dropped. Love the Priv, glad it came to the rescue as my faithful Z10 was dying.

Then you haven't seen the Priv. Show me another device with a high end processor, 2TB of storage, a keyboard, 18MP camera, and secured android with a curved edge. The Priv is unique. Buy what you like.

I don't know why so many members get their undies in a bundle. Think objectively before replying. It's like that every time a new device comes out. When Passport came out, I told people that it's not good for entertainment because of its square design....and members had a mod mentality telling people to go to The BlackBerry Priv - overpriced?-censored.gif iphones.

Now guess what....the Passport section is empty...because.......theyve all moved on to iphone or samsung. So defend your phone objectively....i own a Priv and love it

Oh God. Another price thread. The Priv is priced right. It is unique in the market. There is NO other Android or iPhone hardware device like it. So for all you professional marketers that think you know how to price a product for a certain market segment it is time to put the price debate to bed.
Until you can show a similar phone that offers what Priv does with PBK then BlackBerry will continue to charge what the market demands. The price really is not dropping so what does that tell all you price doubters? The phone has been out now for 3 1/2 months.
    Supply and Demand 101 folks.

Which will not be available for Verizon customers if Verizon ever gets it launched. ShopBB has never sold Verizon models of BB phones.

VKB , PKB and slider mechanism powered by Android . All in one . That is the main reason I bought this device . The device has been strategically priced.
