IndianTiwari likes this.05-04-16 07:21 AMLike 1 - It's been as low as $399 on Amazon this week.
There are a number of 3rd party sellers that have come into some AT&T inventory that was apparently "sold off".05-04-16 07:27 AMLike 0 -

- This one does not say, but for the difference of a factory unlocked, IE any GMS phone system versus a BlackBerry unlocked 600 plus phone, the choice should be straight forward. But I guess not for some.....
PS a factory unlocked and a carrier unlocked land up being the same phone. Once the software is (code lifted) it acts the same across the board.05-04-16 10:00 AMLike 0 - UziRetired ModeratorThis one does not say, but for the difference of a factory unlocked, IE any GMS phone system versus a BlackBerry unlocked 600 plus phone, the choice should be straight forward. Posted via Commodore 6405-04-16 10:12 AMLike 0 - Usman is right, don't be tricked into getting one of these AT&T phones unless you're already on AT&T of course and don't mind waiting for updates!
I just returned one to Amazon which took some explaining as all these 3rd Party Sellers will argue they're fully compatible and there's no probs. Been discussed already on several threads here last week.
Neither Amazon customer support nor the Sellers have a clue about OS updates. They think as long as they're unlocked with a code, they'll work fine.
Posted via CB10Uzi likes this.05-04-16 10:19 AMLike 1 - Are these retail boxed or are they "new"-ish ?
Some vendors on Amazon and Ebay have a pretty wide interpretation of what "new" means.
Anyone who gets one should post their experiences on C'berry.05-04-16 10:39 AMLike 0 - In the past week, I have queried various sellers on Amazon before ordering my Priv. Unfortunately, For the most part it appears they are the AT&T carrier model as was verified by their replies. I ended up purchasing the Priv which stated "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com", as that was the only listing that I could verify as a SBB variant. It arrived today and I can confirm with certainty it is indeed the SBB version. I am on Tmobile and it is downloading the MM update. AFAIK, Amazon uses an algorithm to price most product sold from itself. I believe that the price may fluctuate based on what others are asking. In any case here is a link:
Amazon.com: PRIV by BlackBerry Unlocked Smartphone - Black (U.S. Warranty): Cell Phones & Accessories
Hope this helps someone. Have a great day!05-04-16 11:20 AMLike 0 - Purchased one that was advertised as PRIV by BlackBerry Unlocked Smartphone - Black (U.S. Warranty). Just arrived yesterday and was AT&T retail model.
Emailed another sell (didn't want to make the same mistake) and they replied that it is a factory unlocked AT&T model.
Be very careful when ordering these as the majority of them seem to be AT&T unlocked models.05-04-16 11:42 AMLike 0 - There is no "fire sale" of factory units. Whether the others are AT&T returns (refurbs) or something else remains to be seen, but they ARE AT&T units. It's still a good deal but updates are a problem if you're not going to use them on AT&T.
This sort of blocking behavior by AT&T is, incidentally, blatantly a violation of 15 USC but nobody cares in this country any more when it comes to anti-trust issues and the DOJ actually going after people..... so it is what it is.
Note that if you ARE going to use it on AT&T then there's actually a reason to get one of these over the unlocked one -- you will have access to IMS which the factory units don't get (I've confirmed this personally.) The difference is HD Voice/VoLTE, which isn't really all that big of a deal as its only supported in a small part of the footprint today and frankly, isn't a big "use case" today anyway. In two or three years that might change but by then so will your phone, probably.Wezard likes this.05-04-16 11:59 AMLike 1 - [QUOTE=thatguyusa;12417402]Just for all of those always looking for an issue, such as no model number.

You cannot get updates on carrier devices, unless you have an active SIM from the original carrier in the device.
I'm pretty sure there are also differing options under Cellular Network Settings.05-04-16 03:24 PMLike 0 - There is no "fire sale" of factory units. - I will say this, posted to let people know who did not have the 649 that BlackBerry wants on their website that they may want to look at Amazon. What I got for my trouble, was first I did not post the model number. Than that was not good either when I posted the phone again with model number and the same one on the BlackBerry site; that caused some again to have an catatonik fit. As my father would say and it really goes on this site : no good turn goes un-punished!"
