BBM using up to 30% of the battery and it's not even open nothing is how is this possible? We're the rest of the battery going . And yes I've rest the phone twice to only have it come back today being the day ,beyond frustrated with this any help be appreciated

BBM always has run in the background. Even in the old BlackBerrys. Where have you been?

I had that happen just about 4 days ago. I don't know why it did it. But I did Restart and it has not reoccurred. But you say a restart only fixed it for a while.

Try some of the other restart methods

From BB blog: How to reset PRIV by BlackBerry | Inside BlackBerry Help Blog

    Three restart/reboot methods

The first method, which should be used 99.9% of the time when you want to reboot your device, is using the Reboot option that appears after pressing the Power key.

Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds
Select Reboot from the menu that is presented

The second reset method should be used if pressing the Power key does not produce the menu with Power Off and Restart. For example, if an app or game you are using won’t close, use this option to restart your device.

Press and hold the Power key for 12 seconds

Third method: Should your device fail to respond, the final reset method is to press and hold the Power key for 32 seconds which is equivalent to removing the battery. This should result in your device booting up successfully.

If it fails to start, however, verify you are not pressing any other keys such as Volume Up, Mute, or Volume Down while performing any of the reset methods listed above. If you use a case for your device you may want to remove it as it might be pressing a button inadvertently.

And just for an extra measure, if needed:

    Safe Mode:

The next step is placing your device into safe mode.

When used, Safe Mode will disable any third party apps or games you have installed. As a result of this, should your device not exhibit the issue while in Safe Mode it’s safe to assume the issue is specific to an app or game you have installed.

Press and hold the power key
Tap and hold Power off when it appears
When prompted, tap OK to reboot to Safe Mode

To get out of Safe Mode, press and hold the power key followed by tapping Reboot.

After testing, should your device not exhibit any issues, the next step is to remove recently installed applications one by one until the issue is resolved.

I do use BBM, but have not observed such behavior. As previous posters have recommended, I would do a restart. Sorry you are having this issue and wish I could bring something to the table.

Are you part of many groups? Or may be part of a busy group? If yes, then all the messages will hammer your battery life.

I left one of my groups and am back to normal now. That might be the issue for it eating up your battery. They still need to optimise BBM on Android I believe.

Have same problem. For me its always during the night.
    Battery goes down about 40%
I dont use BBM! Except for some channel reading once and a while.
If i try to disable it it asks to put it back to factory setting. Gonna try this as this behaviour is nonsense.
I think it started since one of the last updates. (Application or os)

Already sent multiple reports / emails hoping they will update the app to fix this.
(Restart of course didn't do the job)

This happened to me again BBM is the top usage draining a high % when I'm not even using my phone. They need to figure this one out. It never happens with whatsapp or facebook messenger

I greenified bbm and since then it does not sick any battery. The drawback, it's hibernated, so only when I use it it runs.
