Is this normal for the phone to give me 8 hours on moderate use? I do not have a lot of apps installed

I have installed an app called Greenify which turns off those apps that run all the time. It seems to save me some battery life. Maybe you can give it a try. It is a free app

if 8 hours means 8 hours screen on time and also include surfing, messaging, browsing and watching videos then yes. 8 active hours of use until the battery is depleted which isn't even that bad imo

I get 5 to 6 hours on screen time and about 12 -15 hours running use.

    Are you on marshmallow?

I'm on marshmallow and have around 7 hours screen on time. You lose a lot less battery if you take some time to check for permissions certain apps on your system are using and deactive those which you don't need by using Dtek. For example the location services. Since the new Dtek update you can even deactivate permissions from system apps

I also get around 7h SoT, depending on the use. That imho is a pretty good result.

The difference i have experienced in battery life when moving from Android L to M is incredible. I pretty much doubled my battery life (standby and SoT).
My guess is that this is largely due to:
    - less overheating running down the battery
    - better control of permissions to stop activity going on in the background without me knowing
    - the dose feature

Amazing the difference. Priv would have been SO MUCH more successful if it had been launched with MM imo

Good tip is to turn off location permission in as many apps as possible. I find for instance that my SPG checks location every 5 minutes which sucks battery so I turned it off and all okay now .
    FF22 and Pinot2015 like this.
