How can I customize the sound and/or vibration of individual app notifications? I get the same sound for each and every app notification and can't see how and where to change these settings.

Sometimes the app itself has settings to control that. Otherwise, Main Settings, Notificiations..., scroll to Apps, find the app and see if there's some setting for the app.

In an Android device, there is currently no one location to access all app notification settings. You have to do so within each app. Some are easier than others. For instance, the stock Messenger SMS app has the notification in the yop level of the settings. BBM is Settings > Notifications > Notifications (yes, again) > Tone.

Rinse and repeat for all the apps you need to change.
