Let them google phone users get the first batch of a buggy new OS. I prefer to get the OS once the worst bugs have been taken care of.

A good assumption would be when their full touch flag ship will drop in November.

Hopefully us on the Priv can get it earlier.

Blackberry won't have it until 7.01 or what the 7X version number is for the bug patch release. Due to carrier interference, alot more OEMs are waiting rather than using resources to push the initial release candidate and then a month later the bug fixed version. Come back to this thread Jan/Feb 2017.

Until they are done with the grsecurity modifications. They've said from the very beginning it will be later for major upgrades.

If you are the type that constantly want upgrades, buy a friggin Nexus. If you are the type who just wants to constantly ask about updates, buy a friggin BB10 device.

Given the fact the major work with MM was likely mainly the permissions stu that is now complete, par the split screen it shouldn't take them ages; but this is BlackBerry

If we want to stick with being STUCK with Verizon, we have no choice. They happen to have better coverage in the US boondocks. There is not an outlet for Factory UNlocked Verizon models of the Priv (and other brands???). The phone is carrier UNlocked and you can use it in Europe (elsewhere) with another carrier sim card. But updates rely on their stingy generosity.

    Change from Verizon?

That's one thing I never really understood with BB10, why would the sim effect who pushes updates, should be clean unlocked images like the old days.
Surely it's torture been stuck in a trap like that, great over here they all use the same GSM standards, so I can buy any phone and put it on what network I like

It's normal that Nexus phones will receive the update the earliest among the others, OEMs will follow months after, so will BlackBerry. I'm sure, PRIV and DTEK50 will get it too..

Some have no other choice but Verizon...that's the problem. I'm with at&t and adopted my device on launch day. Yes, it annoys me that I cannot receive timely updates past the first couple of months...then I remember the Verizon customers. A pity!

Carrier choice comes first... then phone selection.

But one good thing for Verizon - BlackBerry lovers.... the PRIV is now only $408 or $17 a month on an Edge Plan.

I would say late fall or early winter to see it on unlocked models. Carriers a month or two after. Verizon maybe never.
