    Already thin profit margins are going to plummet in the coming years and expensive Android flagship phones are living on borrowed time...

    Think software add-ons maybe. BlackBerry special software access either through one-time payment or subscription. If you are the majority of Android manufacturers that only make profit on hardware sales then, yeah, it's getting tougher every day. I can agree with the article in a sense because I'm still skeptical myself. How many people are willing to pay subscriptions when they can just search Google play to put together similar free apps that do similar things. Still, it's probably better than only banking on hardware margins. I'm sure there will be a lot of small businesses interested. App freedom with Android, BES Cloud and BlackBerry experience suite might become enticing and would bring in software revenue for BlackBerry.
