‎I know this thread is more of a wish, but when amongst fellow crackberry users, I would allow myself. It would be neat if the rumored BlackBerry Venice android OS is allowed as a OS update for BlackBerry PlayBook.

    - BlackBerry hardware
    - Still pretty fast tablet
    - All that was missing in the PlayBook at the time of launch plus the years after added in one swift OS update
    - I would assume a lot more active users (for those who have their PlayBook resting in idle mode)‎

Would be a true revival. However, it is not going to happen.*

I have a couple of Playbooks and that would ROCK, I believe.

Unfortunately, getting a tablet to boot off another OS is really beyond my abilities. Good thought, though.

    Wow... didn't see that coming.
How is it possible to bypass the security features on the PlayBook?

If the PlayBook doesn't have the hardware to support BlackBerry 10 OS, then it most certainly won't support an Android OS.

By your logic if the PlayBook doesn't have the hardware to support Android Lollipop, it follows that the HP TouchPad does not have the hardware to support it either, as they are strikingly similar in their specs. It also follows that the original Kindle Fire cannot handle Lollipop as it is also similar... but less capable with only 8GB of storage and 512MB of RAM. As the both the HP TouchPad AND the original Kindle Fire both have a functional version of Lollipop, your argument is invalid.

The PlayBook won't be getting Lollipop because BlackBerry doesn't want to spend the money on developing a build of it for PlayBook and certainly isn't going to unlock the bootloader. End of story.

Indeed, having a Playbook lying around for years, with rock solid sound, neat screen, and no software at all (kudos to Origami browser for occasional youtubing and surfing) is a bummer.
