Wipe os with newest desktop manager using derrick method??
Using Debrick method...sorry spell check.
Like the title says, has anyone been able to do this? I tried a few weeks ago but couldn't get it to work and I had done it a couple times before with older versions. Does this not work any more? - 04-08-2012, 12:15 AM #2
I tried to do it using the intructions from a number of threads here and couldn't do it properly, until I called BB Support.
The steps to do this is:
1) Open up Blackberry Desktop Software
(Playbook should be disconnected from the computer)
2) Turn off your playbook by holding the power button for 20 SECONDS! (no less!)
The playbook should stay off when you release the button.
3) Now, plug in the usb cable to the playbook.
4) You will get a message with 3 options, Retry, Update.., Cancel. Click on Update..
5) It will tell you to enter your email if you want notifications. Doesn't matter if you put in your email or not. Click on the Update button. (If you don't put in an email, you'll need to uncheck the box)
6)It will take over an hour for it to download the OS onto the playbook so just leave it be. Try not to use your computer when it is doing this, otherwise you risk interrupting the process.
7) Follow the instructions. It should auto reboot when it is done.Thanked by 2:A7omic (04-08-2012), jerryburst (04-12-2012)

Seems I just needed a little patience.
Between plugging the USB in and the message popping up was quite some time, I don't recall it taking that long before.
For whatever reason I thought the message popped up right away once the PB starts to boot up. I was on the boot screen for a while when the message finally popped up.
Your step by step was spot on, thx. - 04-09-2012, 09:50 AM #4

I`ve tried it several times and have never been 100% successful with this debrick method. It is towards the very end of the process I always get the "error" message, although other posters here have told me it is actually "normal" and part of the process to get the "error" message. I suspect otherwise, so I chose to use the security wipe method in substitute of the debrick method since I`ve never succeeded with it.
