The unsupported app types, hardware/software features and intents can be found within the Android microsite located at:

In response to the camera not focusing, RIM had this to say,
"Please note that the PlayBook OS 2.0 developer beta is not feature complete and does not contain end user features."Marc K.

I've side-loaded some Android apps onto the Playbook, but I can't run them - if I tap them, the icon depresses itself and then does nothing. When I remove my finger it pops back up.
I've security wiped four times. The problem isn't loading the apps on - that's fine - but none of the .bar files seem to work (I've tried ten or so).
Anyone have any ideas? Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere.
If it helps, I've got development mode enabled (duh), have tried using both my wifi's IP address and the USB address (both work fine), and have sideloading using DDPB and command-line so far. The sideloading is fine, but the apps won't run.Last edited by CuddlyCombine; 10-25-2011 at 01:26 AM.

Charging is
a known problem. Try reboot (+ - button all three at once). Also, slot fast charger may not work if battery very low. So, charge with usb charger until battery is charged higher.
Part of price we pay for trying beta.
I really like folders feature!!!!!
Crackberry has answered lots of OS2 questions for me! Thanks to all! - 10-25-2011, 01:04 PM #81
I had the same problem. It took a couple of security wipes plus reloads of the OS2 beta. Now DM & DDPB connectivity issue is fully resolved. Bridge even works for all Bridge Apps except for Bridge Files. Other than incompatibilities with some Android features and the missing end-user apps in OS2, Bridge Browser works when WiFi is not available. Tethering works too.

I connect wireless to my home network. Need to re-enter the password to connect to wireless PlayBook restart. Automatic wireless is not connecting. Is there a solution to the problem?

I had many browser crashes. I also had corrupt graphics rendering in a browser where all the graphics suddenly was drawn at random (so it appears) and the page was totally useless. The worst one was hanging in the middle of gmail and rebooting! I spoke to QNX guy at ARM TechCon today and he was surprised to hear that the OS rebooted. He said QNX is used in medical devices and are very reliable. But then he blamed it on the "beta" release of OS2.0

I installed Mobo player and I cannot find the icon. Can someone help with this issue?
Also, how can I transfer files to PB in 2.0. I mean videos, music, etc.
Thank you. - 10-27-2011, 03:28 PM #91

Tried installing OS beta 2.0 and got this message after my playbook restarted and when I got to the Checking for Update screen when you setup your PB
"Retry Activation Blackberry Tablet OS Version 2.0.0.3778 Your tablet could not be activated because of error (0)"
Tried downgrading and it just gets stuck on Blackberry Playbook welcome screen

installed os2. menu changes are great.....however....internet and bridging is bad, and now my battery lasts 3 hours max. other major issue is that the unit will not power down. screen turns grey, but wont shut off unless i hold down volume keys and power.

My battery life is terrible now and it seems to just drain. If I turn it off with some charge on it still, it still manages to lose power. Is this normal for OS2, or just a few of us? Any work arounds? Also, sometimes when I have it on charge the lightning icon doesn't show on the battery icon and it just stays at 0% no matter how long I leave it charge for.

Pointless
I speak for myself on this and maybe others agree, but I truly see the beta 2.0 playbook software release as nothing more than inconvenient and useless unless you are an app developer. I admit I was curious and installed it on my playbook. After giving it 2 days I couldn't take it anymore. The browser crashed very frequently, bridge apps did not work, although there was a more than inconvenient work around for them, it still did not fix the bridge browser or bridge files. Some apps rendered useless, especially paid games like deadspace. Installing Android apps is like pulling teeth also! 2.0 has a beautiful interface, one I prefer over 1.0, however I myself cannot settle for a less than 100% fully functional tablet and that is why I'm sticking with 1.0.7 until RIM finally gets it right. When they do, it will be exciting and I'm sure well worth the wait.

issue with getting android BAR files to work
I've installed OS 2 on my Playbook and using the DDPB Installer (newest version) side loaded the following onto my Playbook in Development Mode;
Honeycomb_Launcher_Rebuild.bar
GoogleMaps.bar
AngryBirds.bar
With these loaded the Google maps and Angry Bird Icons show up on my playbook home screen and I can load the applications and work within them seamlessly as though they're native playbook apps.
For the Honeycomb launcher I try to load and I just get an initializing screen followed by an application window that just seems to freeze at the blackberry symbol.
I've tried loading several other items;
Photoshop_Express_1.3.1.bar
rdp.bar
They place and Icon on the playbook home screen but when I attempt to load the app it takes me to that same initializing screen.
Of note is that all of these apps were downloaded from https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...any=true#gid=0
Each shows as tested and working. Can anyone suggest a fix? Is there some step I'm missing or doing wrong?
Thanks - 10-29-2011, 10:40 AM #98
video chat OS2
Is video chat working, I can start it add contacts but when I call someone says they are not available. Do I need to upgrade other playbook to os2 so they are both on same version?
