The only PlayBook with BB10 is password protected, and the BlackBerry technicians forgot the password.
They are currently on the last attempt before it wipes out BB10 on that PlayBook... And no one wants the responsibility to press to the ok for the last time.

They have a team of one part time employee (yes 1!), the janitor, working on BB10 for playbook. Therefore Thorstein has not been lying. BB10 on playbook is already seeing great progress and reached an important milesone: the janitor has already finished the book "computering for dummies". However the ETA is still unknown.

Thorsten Heins and Bill Gates had an agreement, which was not publicised.
Thorsten got to give Bill a wedgie and call him nerd... and BlackBerry will wait to deploy BB10 until Windows makes another tablet.
Thus trying to give Windows an opportunity to one up Blackberry in the 7'' tablet market.

Hardware not mind good enough to support the new platform, and are focused on keeping afloat on new devices, knowing that many of the playbook users and platform changed to something more commercial and bulk, as in the case of android tablets or Ipad.Where the lack of quality in applications, and a shortage in them, have made a constant since its launch, do not want to spend their efforts to regain an audience and eseptico in something not dominate and prefer to focus their forces in what I take ahy, a messaging system, first, perfectly focused, people who do and do not have time to wait for some day work.
Wait, let's try that again in gibberish, shall we?

After seeing how tiny the Q5 looked in his hand at the unveiling, Thor went into hiding. PlayBook engineering hasn't heard from him since.
I don't want to make a ***** (edit: male genitalia, which would have alliterated nicely with the next word) pun, but lots of things would look small in Thor's hands, and that will not always help him...

BB thought that any new OS that makes existing hardware run better would be too much like Apple and didn't want to confuse consumers.

Hmmm... do you think they are delaying the update until BBM goes cross platform?

Maybe they were going to release it but realized without BBM not being able to work natively they would get bad press once again and are deciding to wait until BBM can work on any device?

I'm having a hard time picturing how having BBM running on iOS and droid while stranding 2 million+ existing Playbook customers is going to be good press.

It's a huge mocking point for competitors.

Hey it made sense to me...

The hardware is not good enough to support the new platform, and consequently we at RIM/Blackberry are now primarily focused on surviving the latest economic downturn, which has been unfavourable to our bottom line and our 2012 fiscal year bonus’. We have therefore decided to prop up our current customer base by releasing, regurgitated, repackaged, bloated software code (BB10) and installing it on the z10. This will keep us afloat in the short term. Long enough for Thorsten to collect his bonus, and sell off the company. We, here at RIM/BlackBerry are aware of our loyal, steadfast playbook customers, and appreciate their continued unwavering support. They have provided us with hours of laughter at our quarterly meetings. Thorsten especially loves to hear the ideas from our marketing department on different ‘stalling and avoidance tactics’ that he can utilize when speaking to the press about playbook and BB10 updating.
We already know that most of the current playbook owners will get tired of waiting for the update and have either migrated to new ‘tablets’. We know we aren’t going to get them, because we only get fan boys and sheep. Who would put up with this but fan boys and sheep? Lack of quality applications. This has been obvious since playbook was first launched. It has been a failure from the start and we at RIM/BBRY know this. We will no longer spend our time, money, energy, or research and development to prop up a dying platform. We are a messaging company and good at it. We make money selling the service. It’s not like we’re going to give that up. Android doesn’t have it….OS doesn’t have it….What? Thorsten says what? Android and Os are going to get BBM?
