Seeing as how this is a BB forum many may recommend a PlayBook. For me it is perfect. For you and your needs maybe good maybe not.

If you want and need tons of apps then iPad is your choice.
That being said, the PB app library is growing rapidly.

If you are a BB phone owner, the bridge ability makes PB your only choice.

If you need only internet by WIFI then either serves the purpose. Most new smart phones have mobile WIFI hot spot. Overcoming some limitations, BB bridge internet is good too.

If you need a big (bigger) screen then iPad is your choice.
If you want a compact tablet then PB is your choice.

If you are an Apple fan saying they can 'do nothing wrong', then iPad is your choice.
