Was having breakfast near the city recently, spotted someone using a PlayBook (which always gets my attention).

Device was quite close to where I was sitting when I noticed the SIM card tray area towards the bottom/back of the device.

Everything else looked pretty much identical, but it definitely had a SIM card area on it.

The guy was out of sight before I had a chance to ask him about it.

Not sure if you saw a PB with a SIM Card. Based on the images on N4BB (http://n4bb.com/wp-content/uploads/2..._000000082.jpg), the SIM card should be hidden.

If you don't believe these exist, simply search on http://ontario.kijiji.ca for '4G PlayBook' and you get this:

I personally wouldn't buy it myself.... Wait until the official comes out. But, they definitely do exist!

The 3G/4G devices have been around for quite some time. They operate nearly identical to your "standard" playbook and the Verizon 4G one does not have a 3G radio, at least the original version did not (this was back in January when I played with one).

Thats kind of amusing that your RIM rep has to get VZW involved? RIM has seed stock they can give out usually lol.

Just like any other company it depends on the benefit you having the device gives to RIM. I have been receiving free gear from RIM long before there was the certified program.

3G+ PB? For some odd reason I feel that RIM is releasing Cellular PB's to serve as "experiment" if they intend to study and revise their update framework... Maybe it's not meant for massive sales.

It's only been released in Canada so far but there are members on here who have unlocked them and are using them on AT&T. I'm surprised he was carrying it around with no case.

I've got the 3G/4G LTE version and walking around with it in The Netherlands, connected to KPN. Works like a charm.
