They should focus on making BB10 the best OS on the market in order to have some chance of survival on the medium term. They cannot afford any distraction like working on a new OS iteration for the PlayBook.

Iron out the bugs from BB10 and bring in more features - the tablet market is for later.

The playbook is going on 3 years old soon. No they are not going to do anything more for the pb beyond maybe if we are lucky some flash updates.

I understand that the BB does not want to waste time and need to sell! But we are referring to a hardware excellent! An android tablet that contains the same hardware of a PB is a good thing in today's market! We are a hands on hardware that was condemned by BB! Unlock the bootloader PB for their customers and they are promoters of other products!

It probably just needs one talented programmer to update the sys.android to a more current version, they have the driver information so its not like someone needs to pick it apart. - I'd have thought BB would need to address the loyalty of the users they have left rather than chasing possible new blood and proving a product has a decent lifespan is good way to go about it. From what I've been reading the past few weeks BB10 is proving a nightmare for them, PB2.0 works and is stable so should take little effort to improve it. I'm no programmer but I'm tempted to get another one so I can root it and understand it a bit better. It cant be that much worse than cracking my Wii - can it?

everyone likes a new shiny thing but they also like to know that they can keep using the shiny thing for a few years if they want to.

Honestly is there any reason why we can't have the bb10 keyboard and dark themes for our apps? How about a way to run some of the simpler apk's? That would go a long way for me.

No support for the TI cpu in the Playbook, so think os upgrade will be a non-starter.

So what exactly was the big "thing" that BlackBerry had planned to give its long suffering PB owners after the disappointment of no BB10. A big fat zilch! I'll never buy BlackBerry again and from the looks of it, neither will a hell of a lot of people. Personally, I can't wait till they are extinguished under the boot heel of android.

Not necessarily, I think the same cpu is in the Z10 STL100-1. Someone can verify?

I feel for you, but in a month or so I will be rocking the most secure device on the planet with pretty well any google apk I want. You are just making it hurt even worse by jumping off now

BB are looking after their customers. They wont unlock the bootloader while the DOD is still utilising PlayBooks as their go-to tablet. In reality, from a business perspective who would you look after, a government department spending millions with you for their tech solutions, or Mum and Dad tablet users who buy one, mabye two or three tablets from you?

No because with how thin their resources are spread I don't think that they can afford to spare the man power or money to make it work. That and they don't need to keep supporting two different branches of an os.

It may just be cheaper to give out Z10s to PB owners - pure trade in.

I'd be happy just getting better Native Apps. If they'd just make a decent Facebook App, add a few camera settings and get rid of that damn browser typing lag, I'd be happy enough. It's terrible how many updates this thing has had and it still feels like a beta device.

Hmm. Do you consider a 4" phone screen a good trade-in for a 7" tablet one? Interesting.

I certainly do. At least the Z10 is being supported. I'll take a 4" with future improvements over an untalented 7". It's not always about size but what you do with it

I think the plan is to release PB OS3 right after OS10 is released for legacy BB devices like the Bold, Curve, and Torch.

That is to say, snowball's chance in hell.

If there's a hell for especially bad volcanoes, I'd say it would be more like a snowball's chance in that hell.

Any further development of the OS should be put in the hands of weekend coders. BlackBerry could give them enough information to make changes without compromising security.
