While I don't have any problems waiting for BB10 on my playbook, it might be wise to get it out sooner rather than later. The advantage is that for many who only have the Playbook BB10 on it might be a great preview and encourage sales of the BB10 phones. I'm not fully sold on the Z10 yet and I am in the market for a new phone. being able to play with the full BB10 on my playbook could persuade me to go Z10 as well.

They are in dire straits. If they launch BB10 for playbooks simultaneously, they will loose a lot of consumers who want to have a feel of the new OS. So, they will try to milk money from some rich consumers first. Then they will reduce the price in next month for milking some other who couldn't afford the launch cost. Every company does that.

In my view, its atleast one month. And most probably two months for pb to get BB10 OS.

Are you sure you really need it? At the demonstration, the gestures were set up for a portrait oriented phone. Is that going to translate to the landscaped PB?
So what? All that means is we either get a new OS that changes the main orientation of the device or we get a new OS that was re-designed to work mainly in landscape.

I really don't see reason to worry.

Anyone else tried this? Any devs know what this error refers to?
MBR have a bigger size, or wrong address for OS
    Code:
    MBR: blocks 2053-2068
    OS Fixed: blocks 2069-18436
also, be careful playing with autoload from AplhaDev, since you can get:
    Code:
    OS Blocklist:
range: From 0.0.0.0 DEV to 2.1.0.1087 DEV
    type: SHIPPING_OS
which means, that you can't use OS 2.1 anymore - only BB10 dev. or waiting for 2.1.0.1492

RIM has been saying for months that BB10 will come to the PlayBook after they finish concentrating on getting the phones out.

The first things they will probably concentrate on its just getting Bridge and video chat working properly between 2.1 and BB10 phones. That needs to work as soon as the phones hit the street.
From my understanding this final OS2.1 update does just that and a few bug fixes. Next will be a BB10 beta followed by a BB10 final.

I guess there will be no updates heading my way here in saudi arabia, if the updates are indeed mainly for allowing bb10 os to have video call functionality with the playbook then its no use waiting, what sucks is video chat is not even allowed for the playbook in this country!!!

It might be a beta release but definitely not released to production. The person whom first posted about it has never clarified; for all we know he/she made it up to stir the cauldron.

What say you now Garry Coupland?

    Apple won't update my iPod touch to latest O/S and . . . .

Agreed. My iPad 1 was hardly 2y old when declared obsolete by Apple and refused iOS 6. Not to mention all the Android devices that get no love after release. . . . . . . .
No BB10 upgrade for PB = a BB fail.....

No release for PB (promised or not) is a big kick in the teeth for all those who have stood by the PB.

Apple as already stated, release updates for all their devices. Not just a selected few revenue generating new models.

And that people was exactly what BB10 was, just a revenue generating exercise... If it was a market changing OS then why was it not released on devices current and new capable of running it.

I understand that tech eventually stops being supported in favour of new better tech, but if you still have tech in the market place being sold and used then you are failing those users and customers by not keeping that tech up to date......

It's a bit like me having a favourite child.

BlackBerry have failed yet again, by neglecting the die hard PB users. The least BlackBerry could have done was release a PB upgrade along side the main launch as thank you to the PB faithful....

BB10 on the playbook will have the device continue its roll as a development platform.

It will require code to be tightened up as any jitters or lags that appear during OS transitions will be much more visible. Rolling out BB10 to the Playbook will require that they uphold a certain quality standard. In no way is this a bad thing.

The end result will be a trimmed down, smooth and fluid OS designed to run on resource-light, network-ready reference hardware capable of being installed in a variety of appliances. It will be the forerunner of Cisco's Internet of Things and it will all be powered by QNX.

Push the update out to a select few, see what the results are. If good then rollout to all.

Could be this update has things in it with the potential to cause issues. If so you don't do a blanket rollout to start with.
