At this rate, will the world ever see BB10

Well, yeah, but the PlayBook LTE can't be launched until 2.0 is completely 3G/4G compatible. Adding a GSM modem isn't simply a drop in item, a good portion of the OS has to be rewritten to support the celluar modem (and the new processor).
and the LTE code and other changes is needed before 2.1 can be finalized, so they can be rolled into the OS and make sure nothing gets broken.
They may be different departments, but departments have to work together to complete projects. Especially now that all of the gofor guys are gone.Blackberry 10 > Windows Phone 7/8 > Blackberry 7 > iOS > Android > Symbian > WebOS > Meego - 08-10-2012, 06:32 PM #160
Glad to see this I know I will get a new 4g PlayBook if it comes with 64gig. It will be nice to enjoy 2.1 on the new PlayBook.

What gave you that idea?
Nobody knows yet when OS 2.1 will be released in its final form.
I'm sure the layoffs starting next week does not bode well for a timely release of OS 2.1:
RIM Layoffs August 2012: 3,000 jobs to be eliminatedBGR has confirmed with a trusted source that the rumored next round of layoffs that Research In Motion (RIMM) has been planning will indeed commence next week. Our source has informed us that RIM will reduce its workforce by 3,000 employees over the next couple of weeks, and that “people are terrified” at RIM because they don’t know who will be affected. Workers have been told that aside from employees working on BlackBerry 10, “no department is out of bounds” for this latest round of reductions. Our source went on to say that “employees packing their desks in anticipation” of next week. RIM provided BGR with the following statement:
UPDATE: RIM clarified that any layoffs that take place will be part of the 5,000 jobs RIM said it will eliminate by the end of the year. - 08-13-2012, 02:31 AM #162mobile signal boosters is suitable for your need

I actually have got to the point where I could care less.
Thats not good.
Also note how slow the forums are.
The crowd is not just silent, they're leaving.

I've also noticed it. Some of the fall off could be Summer vacations but with rim offering nothing new in the way of OS's for the pb and no new phones for another 6 months, the rim platforms offer very little to discuss. Some of the dreams have morphed into nightmares and migration to other platforms is probably occurring more and more.

Not a clue, I was hoping this week but thinking about it they would probably held off with the 4G launching for a few weeks if it was that close.
Here's hoping September's the magic month. Knowing RIM it will be the very last day of September
Last I heard it was sitting at 800 internally. I wonder if @Bla1ze would grace us with an updateLast edited by BB-Bmore; 08-13-2012 at 02:36 PM.

<sigh> only the 13th August, and we're already writing the month off. Sadly, I agree with you.
I really believed that RIM would push to get a new update out after the 668 fiasco, maybe even (whisper it!) 2.1 to placate the crowd. Guess I'll be disappointed once again.
TBH, I have no confidence that we'll see 2.1 in September either. And the closer it gets to the end of the year, and the expectation of imminent BB10 for PB grows, there is less and less reason to release 2.1 at all.

2.1 allows for OTA activations on Enterprise through BMF/BDS. This is something that RIM needed to test internally and get right so that the BB10 and PlayBook users (going forward) can be activated wirelessly. Very crucial step
