Hello all. Since this afternoon my PlayBook takes forever to boot.
It stays on the screen than says blacberry PlayBook with the changing colors etc.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
I tried to kill it by pressing the power button and then started it again and I managed to start it. But then after another test shutdown I had the same response.
    Any ideas?

Back it up, do a security wipe, then a debrick and run the setup again. Once it is setup, restore the backup.

Time it. Mine takes 00:03:08:95 to boot fully from off, and that's normal. I just timed it.

Maybe it's bricked. If it is, send it to Quack immediately.

Oh well in that case you're hooped. You need to reinstall the OS from desktop manager...

This will help (it's old but still applicable) http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2011/...e-playbook-os/

QuackQuack147 is a CB member who is helping/trying to hack the PlayBook. See this thread: http://forums.crackberry.com/playboo...ogress-793657/ fast forward to page 12, post 278 and see that we raised funds to help try and hack this thing...it might be a waste of time or it might not, but people are trying.

    Quack?

By the way thank you all for the help.

Go for a CFP. That will work for sure.

Did you possibly place ONLY FOLDERS in the top dock area. That has been known to slow the boot time to very long.

    Update :
I reloaded OS via desktop manager, security wiped, reinstalled, asked and loaded 300 some mbytes of latest OS, was asked to reboot and here I am again waiting endlessly.

Seriously don't know what else to do.
Are we sure that they haven't pushed something from BlackBerry to kill the devices?

I think this is my case, stupid wifi.
WHO TF is the moron who created such an OS that stops booting just because the wifi is inadequate.
That's why they can't make BB10 work on PB. They probably can't make a lenovo run Win 8 I guess.....

    Strongly disagree.
It boots normally when I am away from the problematic wifi.

I don't know why or what but others have reported a similar issue. It does seem very odd.
