Default Family Filter on PB (DNS settings)

    Hi Everyone,

I am giving my 8yo a PB but I want to see if I can filter her browser so that she only sees the safe internet sites. Ie. I dont want her to access FaceBook, etc. I have found a free product that will allow me to do this but I need to be able to change the DNS settings on the PB so that it uses a specific one. Problem is I cant find it.

I could set the DNS on the wifi router but then it will block all the devices in the house. Does anyone know where I can specify the DNS servers on the PB?

    Regards,

    Alon

you can set a static IP to the specific playbook (with the router). maybe you can edit the DNS settings with that too. that it only will filter that IP.

Thanks Jeroen for the response. I dont think it will work with my router since the DNS settings will be global which means that all devices will get blocked. I just want to block that specific PlayBook. Using my router I have not seen a way of specifying DNS server on a per device use case.

    Follow the below:
Go to settings --> Wifi --> Saved Networks --> Click your wifi network --> Uncheck 'Automatically Obtain IP Address' --> fill in the IP address, subnet, default gateway and DNS fields

I recommend you set the DNS globally on the router though. Your 8yo may connect (inadvertently) to a guest/unsecured network or access other devices in the home; internet access will be unfiltered in both scenarios.
