    Hi all,
    I just bought a playbook from Amazon that was used. It was already on in the box but needed all the initial information entered. It also asked to update, which I did. It made no noise throughout the operation.
    I noticed on the web that out was silent at all times, even Playing video or using ear buds.
    I called BB and they had me hook it up to my computer and redo the os. Still not working.
    I can return it, no doubt at my expense, but would rather fix it.
    Ideas?

    Welcome to the forums!

    Well, ifyou turned the volume all the way up to the max and it isn't making sound, you'll have to either send it to BlackBerry for reapirs or find a local repair shop. If it was a software issue, the OS update would have fixed it.

    In case you want to rule software out completely, turn the device off, plug it to Desktop Software/BB Link and let it update/reload the OS.

    You have gone into the Main Screen, swipe down, Gear, and tried adjusting "Sounds&Notifications?"

    I would return it.

    Would bluetooth speakers work even if the earbud and external speakers don't?

    They should as that is controlled by software and a different piece of hardware.
