Thisnis on your wifi playbook On 10.0.4? I've never seen a software update screen like this on the playbook

Me neither. This is awkward. It just failed and said it needs to restart. I thought I have seen all updates, but never this, and the version number is strange.

Oh and this is my 4G PlayBook. Not the wifi. But this update suddenly came up. Not sure what is going on.

Very weird indeed, I thought when you updated to 10.0.4 that 2.x and lower were blacklisted?

Yeah, it just popped up and I nearly jumped off my couch thinking BlackBerry gave us all a nice surprise. LOL. No such luck. Anyway, I have to restore my PB as I cannot get it past that screen as the install continues to fail. Good thing I backed up a few days ago.

Should have a write up before the end of the week.

But if you are a "noob" as you say, I highly do not recommend it as you must be comfortable with the possibility of potentially blacklisting your PlayBook as I did.

Now here is a last ditch idea. I may have a lead on a Dev Alpha A device. Looking at one online thats is in great condition for a reasonable price.

Now the Dev Alpha device is in effect a 4G PlayBook that dials. Since the screen resolution is the same, and since we can upgrade Dev Alpha A to 10.1.....

Taking it apart and swapping the motherboards and other internals would make a hell of a FrankenPlaybook!

Any thoughts on possibilities. Again, I am willing to undertake this effort, if only to have a BB10 capable PlayBook. More for fun than anything else! LOL.

Okay first off, just wanted to let you know I just read this thread from start to finish over the last hour, a VERY interesting read indeed!

Second, YOU BETTER TEST THIS! I've always been one to tinker with things since I was young, but that actually has me giddy at seeing the frankenPP hardware running a semi-full BB10

I use my PB for playing vids for my kids and would love to upgrade to OS10 for a faster browser if videos play nicely.

I think that most reports on running OS 10.0.9 on the Playbook, including by the OP, is that this version hardly runs at all on the Playbook. That is the first report from anyone that I can recall saying otherwise. It does seem interesting in that he seems to be running a different browser than the OP, as well as a different Camera app. App World still doesn't work, though, and he doesn't mention the android player.

Laughably, this is as close as we will probably ever get to Cascades on the PB.

This Hefner Toyota app makes me wish for BB10 all the more. Oh what could have been.

Umm....what about Pacemaker? This is what I dont understand, there has been an all cascades app for the PB for a couple years. And if the people at Pacemaker can do it, why can't anyone else?
