Is it possible to get at least a watered-down version of BB10 for us Playbook users?

Not at this moment, and very probable not in the future, too.

    Nope. Simple as that.

You could always try the Alpha version that was never developed any further but it's reported to be very unstable, and you need to keep your playbook connected to a charger

We've been toying with this idea for at least the past two years but to no avail. Best to wait and see if Chen authorizes a new tablet with BB10 stock instead of an upgrade to an EOL product, much as we wish it weren't so...

I think that if you could remove the hub and the phone, it could work. But that's just my opinion of what might happen in the future...

You know, before I got my Z10, I was less than sympathetic about all the whining on the lack of BB10 for my PlayBook. After all, the PlayBook is pretty sweet. But I see it now. The PlayBook would be even sweeter if it could have run BB10. But one has to realise that the PlayBook just isn't built for BB10...basically it runs BB10 beta, and as we saw, the Dev Alphas that were out there with the same amount of RAM as the PlayBook, were deemed inadequate for BB10. So, it is as it is. I do find myself reaching for my Z10 much faster than I'll get my PlayBook. Of course, part of the reason for that is because I'm wearing my Z10, while I'd have to get up to get my PlayBook out of my bag.

I would agree with ^ if I knew half the story. We already know of a forum member that received a Z10 with 1G of RAM and had no issues with performance. The RAM talking point is incorrect. You could bet that slow, laggy, or neither, we would all be glad to have BB10 with its upgraded browser and especially its android runtime.

Hell, just push out the newest Android runtime and the Playbok would be relevant overnight.

The only thing I would want out of my PlayBook as it is is an updated Android Runtime....nothing more.....

I would like the ability to run some bb10 apps, most importantly the cb10 app since a lot of my time is spent on this site. The bb10 version of Blaq would be nice too. So what I'm saying is the ability to run native bb10 apps (cascades). Would I love native BBM, absolutely, but what would be even better, bridge with Groups support. I can live without the Hub. I wish they would just release the Playbook bb10 they have. Let us decide if its worth loading or not and if it is as bad as Thor says, give us the ability to downgrade back to 2.1. I don't think I'm asking for much.

It's funny because I just did a software reload on mine to set it up from scratch.

My findings, the O/S elements built on Adobe Air feel slow and sluggish compared to the buttery smooth native code running on BB10.

I would like to see BB10 apps, an new browser and keyboard, and all the apps / interface to be written again to be native code rather than Air.

    The android runtime updated.

I can't see why these are such huge tasks, I'm not asking for BB10 fully, just a few improvements to make it better to use than it currently is.
