It's not coming this week guys sorry to disappoint. My insiders tell me that 2.1 will only launch this week in Vietnam along side the 2011 10 inch PlayBook aka BlackForrestGump.

Finally getting sms texting on the playbook will eliminate one of the few reasons i still keep reaching for the small device.

*sigh*. hopefully we'll get it before devcon in september...I don't really have much hope for release tomorrow (the dev beta was quite buggy according to the folks on beta zone).

If the 4G Playbook is really coming out tomorrow and if 2.1 is to accompany it, then we should be seeing a Bridge update within hours. But those are two very big 'if's. I'm not sure when the 4G Playbook is really going to land, but there was a leaked document that said July 31st. If this is really the case, then if the 4G Playbook falls in the forest, will it make any noise?

Well at this point we can safely rule out a new OS release AND the 4g launch by tomorrow. Maybe one or the other but not both.

But.... But..... Guys. Come on.... At this point? ....

The update is coming tomorrow! Just got a MSG from one of their dev and he told me due to the new OS coming tomorrow ( they didn't state if it was 2.1 or not) some apps might not work properly, but will be fixed within the week as more apps get updated. Apps that have been updated in the last 2 weeks, will work properly.

So I guess tomorrow around 5 am EST...slumber party anyone?

Well if it don't it won't be the first second or third time you were wrong. Remember your post from "your source" who said all these new apps were coming? I can't recall one that ever came out of the ten you mention. Not trying to be a (fill in the blank) just calling it like I see it sorry.

Maybe Bridge is already setup for the newest update. But then you can have that Bridge in Brooklyn for a song - how 'bout "Never on Sunday...."

It probably is, SMS Bridge is the only feature I can think of that would warrant a Smartphone app update, the OS 2.1 Beta already has this included.

Remember RIM owns App World, They can push out an app of their own any time they see fit, there's no approval time or processing on their end like us regular developers have to go through.

If they want to update BlackBerry Bridge at 4:27 AM, They'll make it so, I still think it's not too early to rule out an OS update but we all know a new Bridge update is required. So either we'll see this update in a few days, or they'll launch simultaneously.

I found a file in bridge called wifi bridge but couldn't find any sms bridge file although I do know the sms bridge file is in 2.1

It says I have an update

today early in the morning, my PB was bricked!.. I turned on and the there was the setup screen asking me for language... then after I finished the setup I had nothing but my browser icon, and an update showed up... but I lost everything! all my 477 apps I have adquired!!!!

Is anyone having the same issue?

I had the 2.1 Beta installed

then this happened and now I am updating my PB to 2.1056 something like that.

Ah, good. Now we've added "when ready" to "soon" "just around the corner" "summer" "after xxx (where xxx represents some tradeshow or event)"

I agree this sounds sad and not too promising of a release today. BUT, he said "2.1 is in beta right now and will launch when ready", well who knows it may be ready today and he just does not want to say or can not say it is ready today...and it will be released later in the night. Not likely, but it could happen.
