the higher res is pretty cool, but wont it make the text a little too small?

as for 4G hopefully that'll get released the same time as OS 2.0 - if thats the case then Feb may be a very good month, and possibly why rim delayed the OS launch.

There was another thread about this.

This res is probably for the (upcoming) PB2, which was supposed to be either 9 or 10", which uses this as a native res.

You can't set the PB at 1280x768, the screen has 1024x768 pixels native.

I'm thinking it's for phones, not a 10" Playbook. In Kevin's post about the Montana he said the new phones would have resolutions higher than the iPhone. If we assume the new phones have a screen size of 4.3", with a 1280x768 display, that puts it at 347ppi... which is a higher pixel density than the iPhone 4, which has 330ppi.

Although I'm certain RIM is working on a 2nd Playbook, it's weird that the aspect ratios wouldn't match. The resolution of the Playbook is 1024x600, which is a different aspect ratio than 1280x768. The Playbook doesn't have very many apps as it is, so it wouldn't make sense for them to further differentiate and dilute App World with a bunch of different aspect ratios. I feel as though it's more likely 1280x768 is their new smartphone resolution, and the phones will range from screen sizes of 4-4.5 inches.

Good points... WOW, a 4.3" screen with that resolution will be sharp!
