    Default YouTube on PB

    In trying to view a bunch of YouTube videos on my PB yesterday, about 75% of them could not be played.

    I'm using the default YT app.

    Does anyone know of a version of a YT app that will allow most videos (I realize you'll never have 100% compatibility) to play? It was quite frustrating.

    I get 100% playability with the default YouTube app. Could your internet connection be too slow? The YouTube app plays at 720p by default, whereas the YouTube website on computers and the PlayBook play 360 or 480 by default. Try reducing the quality to see if this helps.

    Otherwise, try sideloading TubeMate which allows you to download videos in their entirety before playing them.

    Or buy stereo tube. It's awesome and you can read up about it on appworld

    No problems with the native YT app, have never had a video not play. Just downloaded StereoTube like BB-More said, it's fantastic, and it can also convert videos to mp4 format for the PB

    Thanks all for the suggestions. Last night I did an experiment and tried to play the same videos that won't play in the YT app in the PB browser and they played great. So it appears to be something with the app itself. I'm in touch with PB support on Twitter and am waiting to hear if they have any other suggestions.

    For the videos that do not play, do they immediately stop after loading about 4 seconds of loading? This was a problem for me with YT videos that loaded ads, and I would have the same issue in both the YT app and in the PB browser. It has recently become much better for me as if YT did something beyond what I could do with clearing the browser cache.

    No problem with native on my end I like how it just puts the highest res video automaticall youtube via web des'nt reallydo that all the time.

    Andy957 - i've had the same experience -- can't play videos in the YT app, but CAN play the same ones in the PB browswer (and they play fine). Would like to know if you receive any helpful tips from the PB support group. thanks.

    I also have problems with viewing a youtube video on my Playbook. Usually, when I get an email with a link to a video, when I open it on my PB, I simply cannot view it without it playing choppy video, at best. It angers me that I have to log onto my computer to view it. I have FIOS in my home with a plan that gives me 75/35 (proven with speed testing). What's up with this? Is this the app or the PB?

    I have never had any problems viewing YouTube videos either with the browser or either the YouTube app. Last night my grandson and I watched Mr Bean fir a few hours, no problems whatsoever.
