No. It will be interesting to see how much the 4G PlayBooks will go for though.

Yea I would. I got the 64 gb PB I would pay the difference even.
I dunno how any body can say the value isn't there. If they want to depreciate the PB because the lack of apps, well that still makes it useless at $300. I understand not being in the buudget or a tablet is lower on priority at $500. What the PB does is worth $500.It's one thing for the world to think your a dullard and another to open your mouth and remove all doubt. - 05-02-2012, 11:00 AM #6
This is the way I have to look at it. There is nothing else out there currently that has ALL the features the PB has that we need and use at work. That being said, if that was the price now and we needed another one, yes, in a heartbeat. That is the price I paid for my personal PB also and never regretted it. Again, what could I replace it with, having the same features, form factor, UI, security, remote functions, speakers, video and photo taking quality or bridge capability? Nothing I've tried so far. That's me.

If my PB broke today and if SBB wasn't selling for 199$ and if there was nothing new on the horizon then yes, I would pay 499$ just like I did the first time.
There are too many if's to give an answer to the question.
I can say I have no regrets about buying at full price. The PB does what I need it to do and does it well. - 05-02-2012, 11:15 AM #9
I bought the 32GB model on day 1 last year and haven't regretted it! And going forward, in a heart beat I would take another 32GB at the same price as I paid day 1!!

Yeah, a tablet period isn't worth 499 to me. If my playbook broke and it was back at the original price, I would either get a cheap android tablet and be sad it wasn't a playbook or wait to see what windows 8 brings to the market.

I just picked up a 64GB PlayBook for $299. Felt ok at that price. You can get a pretty kick- laptop for $500--can't see spending the same for a tablet.
The PlayBook is bad . Now that the OS is up to snuff they ought to discount the crap out of it to saturate the market. Only then will developers make any kind of real push to get us the apps to be competitive. Then, those apps will be quite easily translated to OS 10 phones. No matter how good the new phones are, without apps, mainstream buyers will go elsewhere.

I would not pay $499 for any tablet either. I just don't think I can justify that type of expenditure on something that is not a primary device. Until a tablet can replace my laptop in real world use I would find it hard to spend more than $350.

I paid $549 for my 64GB back in September and would do it again. I wish some things were better, like Adobe Reader, but there's no tablet I like better (and yes I've actually tried some
) so I'm just going to hold on to the hope that RIM comes thru on all of their promises. Hoping for a bright future for RIM and the Playbook.

I would pay whatever the going price for similar tablets was at the time. For example Staples had one of the 7" Android tablets for $399. I think it might have been the Samsung. The specs seemed to be inferior to the Playbook, but I would still pay $399 for a PlayBook if I needed one.

Nope. i think the prices they are at now is what they should have originally been at. Noone would look at it and pick it up over an ipad which is priced at the same or less for the ipad 2.

Nope, I wouldnt, I couldnt justify spending over 200$ on any tablet. The PB just so happen to come along and at a good price, I was all over it =)
Anything above 200$ for a tablet type device is a complete waste of money for the convenience. - 05-02-2012, 12:00 PM #23
Nope, not me either. Germany for example gets ripped off by RIM with 499. That's why nobody there buys any.
