    I use an app called DNSBench from GRC and the fastest DNS for me is the one from my cable co. I used to use the OpenDNS servers but I'd have issues with it from time to time. 8.x.x.x.x isn't nearly as fast as TimeWarner's, at least for my area.

    Yeah. It is a trade off. Your ISP will typically have the fastest. But then my ISP blows and is not reliable at all. So I tend to use 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 208.67.222.222 (Open DNS). But lately I have used Level3. They have a NOC near me and the Google tool reports their DNS as one of the top ones.
