Anyone know if there will be any widgets for the Playbook like Android has on its devices?

Couldn't you just fire up an app and leave it in the card display (the carousel looking part of the home screen)?

You can make them for BlackBerries, so I'd assume you could on the PlayBook, but then the question becomes whether or not developers will make such apps...

    Are Widgets useful in tablets?

Honest question. I'm trying to imagine a use-case.

For a phone, they are useful because your phone goes in and out of your pocket often and you want instant access to information on a limited screen real estate.

This feature will definitely not exist at launch time, and in fact RIM has said nothing about any such feature other than that they'll be looking at it. (Which is marketing-speak for "we may decide to do that some day, or not".)
