Had it sitting for about a year and it now won't charge. I can plug it in and turn it on and use it but the battery will not take a charge. Any suggestions?

Probably A dead battery. The usual thing is can't use it until you "stack charge" it.

What charger are you using? Have you ruled out that it possibly could be your charger?

I should dig mine out and see if it works. Haven't touched it in 2 years.

I charge mine and try it every few months and then quickly discard it for my iPad mini! LOL

It depends on the charger. If using the magnetic charger, I find that of the contacts aren't clean, the PlayBook will run but not take a charge (no change in charge level). Sometimes I see a slowly decline even though the battery symbol may show a charge being applied. Cleaning the contacts does make a big difference. If using the USB charger, it could be the USB port is wearing out.

If using a USB charger, it needs to be the 1.8A BlackBerry PB device. Other USB sources may only yield as little as 500mA.

Sounds like a dead dead (as compared to a mostly dead) battery. No amount of stack charging is going to help unless you had noticed it just started not charging recently. About the only thing, if you really want the PlayBook to be portable, is to replace the battery. My old laptops do this. My old phones do this. Fully charged, but forgotten for a few years and can't charge the batteries anymore.

You need to first remove the rear cover with case opening tools (plastic) then you'll need to remove the motherboard before you can get at the battery. It's maybe a half hour job.
