Skitch and Handrite Pro both work well but both need to be sideloaded.

Try Harmony for sketching. My architect friend who has an Ipad mini fell in love with the app after using it just once. although there are some bugs and limitations, It's amazing for drawing. If someone can polish up this app, fix the bugs, add a "save" button, I would definitely pay for it.

You could look at Picinote and NoteSmartly. NoteSmartly has a free version which is limited but should give you an idea.

Side load FreeNote+ and/or Handrite. Both work really well on Playbook!
I use them to take notes during university lectures.. - 12-07-2012, 03:36 AM

While I don't really understand how one can seriously consider using handwritten notes (that are not searchable, for instance, and extremely slow to take without a dedicated pen) I'd recomment Sketchbook, that'll best mimick an ink pen, variable thickness and all (and is free). Sketchbook with a Jot stylus may near the equivalent of a pen indeed.
But really, if you want to do anything else than just grocery notes, I definitely suggest a text-based notebook. With the latter you'll find back anything with keyword searches for instance -and some apps even do handle attached sketches or on-the-fly photos for when drawing actually counts (Groovy Notes for instance) - 12-07-2012, 09:51 AM #11
I just downloaded Notepad from the App Store, it's simple, easy to look at it and it does the job. A simple Google search did the trick and it was the first one listed in the App Store

If you want good note taking and sketching, do yourself a favor and invest in a Galaxy Note 10.1...
