Sitting 30' feet from my D-Link DIR 655 router. Speed test for my desktop shows 10 Mbps; my Dell Vostro on wireless is 10 Mbps, yet the Playbook is only 3 Mbps.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the Playbook is so much slower than the Dell Vostro using the same wireless?

I can't tell you why the Playbook is slower. With my Netgear 750, the Playbook is just as fast. I did, however, return a DIR 655 a few months ago and one of the many reasons was the fact that I got very inconsistent download speeds between my two laptops...
I get from 21-25 mbps download on my PB. I know that a friend was slower (he was connected to my system) down to below 10 mbps, he then rebooted and the speed went up. Did you try rebooting?
I get "just as fast" speeds myself of between 17-21 mbps. I tend to keep it clean (not too many apps) and rebooted regularly and I clean the cache periodically. Please let us know if anything works for you.....it could help the next guy who might be experiencing the same issues when we post back with solutions. Good luck!
With two bars, I average 15meg. On the same router. You might want to screw around with the wireless settings (if you can ). I remember having to do it on mine.
There have been problems with some routers. I've had good luck. Using the same Wifi router, with the Playbook and Samsung 10.1 tablets, I get virtually identical results using one of the Dslreports.com tests (for Android devices)--usually around 3700 kbs, although there is variability.
I have no problem getting my advertised ISP speeds. +25Mbps on my PB. Anywhere from 30-60Mbps on my wired PC. I pay for 30Mbps. I get like 4.5Mbps on my 1st Gen iPod Touch... About 8-15Mbps on my Titan.
