Whilst those would be nice, the playbook is not a phone, much as the ipad is not a phone.
Samsung note whilst a neat idea is already struggling to take off and really doesnt know what it wants to be.
In the end the Playbook should stick to what it is trying to be a tablet, and nothing else until a 4g version is released.Bold 9780 + Playbook 16GB - 04-10-2012, 05:32 AM #27

All I'm going to say is the longer they wait the more they are going to lose. For me a bug fixes update would be wonderful.

An update BEFORE BB conference would me more useful, in order for the press and users to welcome it in a better mood.
Unless the update is even worse of course. Then AFTER BB conference would be preferable.
Now if TAT could come up showing something else than Scrapbook, it would certainly prove they are something else than manual workers working intensively on their own bodies... - 04-10-2012, 11:57 AM #31
Jinkies! A Clue!
The ghost of Old Man Witherall is telling Carnival Employees that RIM is releasing the Update later on... down the road...
What a Mystery!
Sarcasm aside, bug fixes would be nice! I'm not expecting much more at this point... Maybe some new UI and Cascades implementation... Maybe font adjustment? Not holding my breath anymore. I'd probably sh*t myself if they finally got Accessibility features on this thing... I'd also happily clean myself up and do more with my PlayBook.BlackBerry addiction is no laughing matter... he eh eh eh... -

I couldn't vote since my selection of 'it will be here when it gets here' was not included in the poll.

because threads like this are pointless and a waste of bandwidth? and people posting such need to be told?
the forums would be 10x as useful with 5x less mindless drivel like this. honestly, who cares when the next update is? the tablet will autodetect it and tell you. you lot will sit there pressing update hourly pulling your hair out, and when the update finally comes, if at all, you'll whine that it's missing some tiny thing only you need, and now rim sucks and playbooks suck and you are getting an ipad.
the number of things that are asked about repeatedly because people act like lemmings and can't think for themselves is mind blowing. things that are too simple to not figure out on your own even.
so that's why i complain in stupid threads like this. when there is a genuine problem that needs genuine aid, i'd be more than happy to help out. when i am telling a rim employee how things are set up and showing them how to do things, i think i have the aid part down pat. - 04-10-2012, 08:58 PM #43
Well looks like they have updated the User Guide.... see page 58..

I'm excited for this now

You forgot an option in the poll. Choice 5: "Whenever it gets here" I'm tired of that question. It gets asked every few days it seems.
I guess no one likes surprises anymore...

I agree with some posts that there's little to gain from speculating on release dates, but from personal experience it's also good to know of any informed rumours.
One week before the 2.0 release, I was away for work for a week. Prior to 2.0, my personal webmail would not work with the browser, and my work webmail was very flaky and difficult to use. I was hoping to have the update before going away, so I could leave the laptop at home. As a result, having some clues about the release date was very useful to me, when preparing for the trip.
In summary, I'd say that for updates that add or significantly enhance features, RIM should really give very firm advance confirmation of release dates at the earliest opportunities. For us users to make the best of the Playbook, that should be obvious to them. For minor updates, I'd reflect other posts - who cares when they come?! Well, a small number of people if affected by bugs, but not the vast majority.
