What is sideloading?
...what's sideloading? How does it work and how do I do it?

sideloading means to install applications, not through the Blackberry App World but 'side-loaded' using your computer directly on the Playbook.
1-You need a software called 'DDPB Installer'. Install it on your PC: UPDATED: [PlayBook] Side Load PlayBook Apps/Android Apps (Windows) « BerryReview Forums
2-Put your PB in developer mode (options/security/developer mode
3-Find the .bar file of the application you want to install, for instance Angry Birds: AngryBirds.bar
4-on the PC put the IP address of your PG and the developement password...
wait the app is side loaded and you can use it - 12-03-2011, 09:35 AM #3

Side loading can also mean to load your own ebooks, rather than get them from Kobo. you can do this the same way you load any other data onto your PB. You will need one of the book reader apps you can find in app world to read them. And you can only do this with non-DRM ebooks.

well some apps have not be approved on the app store (like the aMail email client), or Desktop Browser) so people put them directly for people to download...

Where can you find these .bar apps?

Another advantage of learning how to sideload is being able to participate in beta testing of apps that aren't ready for AppWorld yet. I do this for lots of apps. You just have to reach out to app authors and offer to help with testing, usually..
Also, if you're running the OS 2 beta you can use the same approach to sideload Android apps that have been properly repackaged and signed as BAR file instead of the original Android APK files. Much more info on this can be found here in the forums..

OK, with a little searching I found the Kindle app and it's working great. My PB just stepped up a few notches!
