NO MKV, and some AVI files don't work. Not sure what makes some work and others not.

Actually, some mkv does work. It depends on the audio type.

Do not scramble file extension (AVI,MVV, MP4) with compression codecs used (MPEG-3, Xvid, H263 ...). See Chadface pdf for details

What kind of tips do you want? That's a pretty broad request. Do you want to make your own files so you know what yojr getting or are you asking for good sources of downloads. I can help you make your files.
The guy was meaning don't confuse the file type with the mythod of transcoding. I don't understand really why he said. Mkv,mp4.m4v and vob files are cotainers that cotain media files. They can have video, video+audio, or just audio files. These media container doesn't have a standard to what audio to be used or video for that matter. So your playbook might play the video in a mkv file but not the audio if its not supported.
It's one thing for the world to think your a dullard and another to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Not sure if you want network access, any access to your videos from anywhere, or just access from within the PlayBook but I set up Subsonic (which is quite simple) so I can access all my stuff from anywhere.

What I'm getting at, aside from the convenience of that, I have yet to run into a video codec it hasn't played. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in this and need a hand with it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I access my server via the native browser, or Secure Browser. There's also an app called SonicAir in App World for this.

Thanks. I meant making the files playable. I just encountered my first mkv file that would play. Normally they are a blank thumbnail, and when you click it says format isn't supported.

OMG. Being able to access my vids from anywhere would be the absolute greatest thing ever. I use my PB mainly as a media player and that would be so great.

Weird, I run into a ton of files it won't play. I guess I haven't been as lucky.

I hate bothering people, so I am gonna try to keep from PM just yet. Will try to just get advice and take a stab at it. Awesome gesture though. Really appreciate it.

SonicAir. Thanks. Gonna check it out now.
