I'm a new playbook owner but have been using BB since the 900 series for work.
I have two playbooks. Just updated to 1.0.8.4985 from 1.0.7 and the video preview in the video chat app no longer works on either unit. Just get a black screen when you hit the video preview button and go to the preview screen. Both worked before under 1.0.7.
This appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware issue with the screen camera because the front and back video cameras still work on both units under the camera app. So if you experience this after going to 1.0.8 from 1.0.7, it is likely due to software issues rather than a hardware issue with your screen camera. If in doubt, try your screen video camera in the camera app to be sure.
Both of mine don't since update to 1.0.8. Not sure what the problem is then and why it would affect two seperate PBs the same way? Perhaps it was something in the OS update I received. My PBs were updated on seperate days after the update came out.
my video chat starts to launch and then closes without every having the program load in 1.0.8.4985 ... annoying since I just ordered a second 16GB playbook !!!
