I'm considering getting a Playbook, mostly for pdf reading and storage, but I just had this idea... Is it possible to cable the Playbook to a Desktop/Laptop and use the camera in the Playbook for Skype? Will the Playbook's camera be recognized as a peripheral? I know this sometimes works with digital cameras, maybe cell phones.

Has anyone ever tried this? If not, someone please try it now and let me know. If not, it's ok, just a thought.

It's not a solution for not having Skype, but at least this way I can cram a bit more utility out of the Playbook's hardware, and not have to lug along a separate camera with my laptop.

The PlayBook has a video chat format that allows video chat between PlayBook users. I don't think your idea for the PlayBook camera. The premise is sound but I tried it and failed. I was hoping it worked to help some folks out.

You can use realportal or AOL AV to video chat.
