So what gives? I was expecting to hear from this today, but nothing. Have you heard anything about USB on PB? Kev?

i really want this to happen ...
it's very annoyin that i can't watch large file movies on my pb ...and have loads of music files...
i think they won't allow it...at least for the time being..not for a security reasons as they assume..but because if they allow it..every one's gonna buy the 16 GB and use the usb thing with an external hard drive or a card reader ...etc.. - 05-02-2012, 08:58 PM #4If Eve had given Adam a Blackberry, the world would be paradise. Instead, she gave him an Apple. Look at us now.

I'm thinking it's gonna show up in 2.1, these are the kind of questions that should be asked by those who are able to ask. I'm looking at you bla1ze,Kevin, Adam...and the rest of the Crackberry crew.
I waited...It launched...Im still waiting...

I've been hoping for this to get official too. Been thinking, with all these awesome games coming and their respective file sizes, I'm gonna be in trouble when Pacemaker comes out cuz I wont have enough room for all my music. If I can bring my 64gb flash drive with me, all will be good.

You have the cloud and your PC to access files...
I mean, I can use box and stream from my PC, but USB needs to be added.
We need this posted in the BB beta zone.
I'll go ask.__________________________________________________ __________________________

Hey everyone.
I started a thread to try and keep all the extra BB World info in one place.
There is currently at least one developer that is checking in and trying to answer some questions. Maybe if you ask the question there he can help.

Someone got a link to the adapter - while never a Boy Scout, being prepared can't hurt if the price is not obscene.

HERE is THE Answer, over in the BB beta zone I posted this:
USB Drive Access?
Options
May 2, 2012 11:34pm
Is there going to be USB access soon? USB stick, Powered USB HDD? Anything?
People are dying to know over at Crackberry and I am too.
If so I want to order an adapter right now.
If there are no plans for this I think that is a mistake and should be reconsidered.

Howdy!
It is on our roadmap, there are indeed plans for it, but I can't confirm when we'll bring it to the device.
Thanks,

Really hoping that this is coming soon. Then we could just plug our phones into the PlayBook or whatever we want of course too. Movie streaming from the SD card is eventually in the cards, but when is the real answer now...

Here are two, note, one is male and one female.
Male:
USB A male to Micro USB B 5Pin Male left angle cable adapter convertor | eBay
Female:
Angled Micro USB OTG Host Cable Adapter Xoom i9100 Galaxy S2 SII N900 Archos MID | eBay
I listed the other in case you have a female to female extension. This would be smaller than the charge cable to zip up in a case or something.Last edited by Yankee495; 05-04-2012 at 01:54 AM.

It was discussed yesterday. There will be APIs for supporting USB host mode. I forgot the details (so much have been talked about.) But the slides containing the details will be available to the Jam attendees. Note that there will be no 3rd-party USB drivers for peripherals. However, there is a way to support custom peripherals via CDC-ACM (whatever it is since I know nothing about it.)
It's coming with the launch of BB10. When the PlayBook moves to BB10, it'll also have it.
So it's going to be more waiting. But the wait will be well worth it.
