Just found this purported Android Runtime thats been nabbed from a Z/Q 10 and ported to the PlayBook. Will there be any harm in trying this, or is it fake? I don't want to break the PlayBook's software (again)...

It's not fake. It's just a lie or typo. BlackBerry PlayBook doesn't have a 4.2.2 android runtime. Most it can go is 2.3.3

It says:

"This is the Android Runtime which upgrades the Android Emulator on the Blackberry Q10, Q5, Z10, A10 and many other Blackberry Phones.

You need to use DDPB to install these two BAR files to your phone. Both of these files are in a ZIP file, you must extract it using WINZIP"

That explains everything. I mean A10? C'mon. lol.

I think you'll know when and if an updated Android runtime comes to the Playbook. I think most of the Playbook sub-forums would be in full on party mode. That would be our first indication. The second indication would be an update being sent to your PB. WE can only dream for now. Hehe. My PB is still used as a work device. It isn't as great as it once was and is a little beat up but it does the job I've given it without fail and still has an amazing battery life more than 2 years later.
