I currently have 2.1.0.1314 on my playbook.

When I connect to a new wifi (eg. at my brother's, at a public spot), I get a notification of an application update version 2.1.0.1314

Why is this happening? It only seems to happen upon connecting to a network I've not connected to before.

Delete the saved connection, do a reboot and then re-establish it again.

It could be identifying that you are in a different region, for example sometimes service providers in Canada can appear to be in US and vice versa because of the ip addresses.

Does it say what size the update is?

Sometimes I've read about people getting random small updates, because they've deleted / uninstalled something that the software update thing will try and put back.

In fact a few weeks back, I got a tiny 4meg update - never did figure out what it was about.

@Scotter75 - The connection(s) weren't saved, so nothing to delete.
@djenkins6 - why would my location trigger a need for an update to the OS?
@Wongsky - it says 17 Mb, which I think was the original size of the update (and I haven't uninstalled anything)
I guess I'll backup, reboot, and if it still wants to update, I'll let it.

17 mb was not the original size. Your PlayBook is likely missing something. Just update it.

Agreed - think 1088 was pretty big ~400M, 1314 was something like 37M for me.

OK, so I did the update. Don't see a difference in anything, but the sky didn't fall so <shrug>

Yes, it is regional. So if I connect to my work wifi hotspot, it appears that I am in Michigan and get a small 4 meg or so update. Must contain US specific stuff.

Normally, it would appear that I am in Canada.
