Hey there,

I have two blackberry playbooks and both are locked. These were bought in Canada and brought to Zambia where I'm volunteering when I discovered they were locked. I'm not sure what carrier they're even locked to - can I look this up using the IMEI? Is there a way for me to find the MEP code for the devices? I haven't had any luck finding unlock codes without this information.

Any suggestions?

Sorry. I can't help you with your question.

Incidentally, when I was last regularly using my 25+ Sony multiband receiver to do some shortwave scanning (in Los Angeles, where I live), I would occasionally pick up shortwave transmissions from Lusaka.

Would be kind of sad if I could pick up over-the-air Zambian transmissions from 9000 miles away while you were unable to use your 2-3 year old PB at all to communicate over-the-air in Zambia.

If it is locked to certain carrier, the only solution is to get "code" from the carrier itself to unlock your device... there are sites that offering the unlocking services, but I doubt that they can do it with PlayBook because of its unpopularity...

The other alternative is to get a mobile wifi router device... then you can connect your PlayBook through that device (a.k.a. wifi)...

Just phone up every Canadian carrier saying I believe this PB was purchased from you xD Until one of them says yes it was (obv provide the IMEI)
