Does anyone has used an unlocked GSM HUAWEI E586 HSPA+ 21Mbps Mobile WiFi with a PB In Europe or in the Middle East using a prepaid SIM card from Etisalat
I just bought one through AMZN
I am trying to cut my $25 to $30 a day internet expense in hotels
    any feedback s appreciated
I know it does not work in the US as T-MO and T run on different frequencies

    hi hreiner1,
here in europe (and the middle east i guess) 3G/UMTS/HSPA operates on 2100Mhz. If your huawei supports that band everything should be ok. I own the same model (E586 bought in europe) and it works on 900 and 2100 Mhz bands.

I will use different SIM cards in EU mostly an Austrian prepaid
Than in the UAE an Etisalat prepaid
my question is, is there any particular setup I have to run for every different SIM card, and different password
    Thanks

You have to setup your huawei like you would do with any router. And of course you have to fill in the information given to you by the provider: apn, login, password... these will vary with each sim card.

I would never buy Huawei after the manufacturer's alleged ties with the Chinese military. Think espionage.

Not so. It is true that many of our high tech smartphones are made in China, including the iPhone, but you can buy made-in-Korea and made-in-Taiwan smartphones. The Playbook is made in Taiwan. Just follow the news on Huawei.
