This just happened for me today. The twitter mobile site has updated to a much more attractive and user friendly format. I had heard that the iPad version was recently updated to HTML5? Perhaps the Playbook was just updated as well.
The previous version of the site was very basic. It featured a single column only view that did not take advantage of the widescreen format of the PB. I had tried using the 'desktop' version but found it sluggish and difficult to navigate.
The new mobile version however, runs great. its got a two column format and is very quick and responsive.
I'll try to attach a screenshot to this post but cant guarantee if it works!

Reason: spelling (I blame the playbook keyboard!)
Thanks for the information. I also tried the desktop version but took forever to allow for replies, and had to constantly change from landscape mode in order to access the menu.
thats what I did. I dont even have the shortcut anymore, I just tried mobile.twitter.com on the PlayBook and it just goes to the regular mobile site, not the HTML 5 one...
- Go to the 'desktop' version of Twitter (twitter.com)
- Sign out of the desktop version and go to the home page
- Click on 'mobile' link near the bottom of the page
- Click on the link that says visit m.twitter.com on your mobile device
It was from this moment on that the new website started working for me.
