I spent 2.99 at the app store buying aVNC, which turned my existing laptop into a cloud based server, which gives me access from anywhere in the world to remote access all of my business programs, but most importantly, my trading software. I can trade on the go and put my playbook to work for me. With full flash capability, the playbook has become a my dream come true. I can make (or lose) money anywhere any time. It paid for itself in the first six hours of trading.
I also bought the leather sleeve for 59.99, which fits snug and looks sharp. I also bought the charging stand, for 69.99, which works well, but I use it only for charging purposes, so in my case the rapid travel charger would have been a better purchase, so I could keep the playbook in the protected sleeve, when it charges, as I have two small children, who love playing with the playbook, any chance they get.
I spent 7.77 at 7digital and was super happy with their download speed and, I am sure I will download more from them.
I bought a micro hdmi adapter for 6.99 to use my regular hdmi cord.
I also spend 50.00 a month for a high speed pocket wifi router.
This poll seems to imply if I am not mistaken is a way for RIM to suck money out of its consumers, but I think like any product, out there, it is the buyers choice to spend money on add ons or not. RIM has offered plenty of free things to make this a tablet so that you don't have to spend money on.
For starving students, they could buy the 499.00 16GB version, and never have to spend a dime to fully enjoy and use their tablet. The Kobo book store app gives you 2 free books just for signing in with your email. Then you have access to their store and once inside click on the free ebook link and then browse the 195 other free ebook titles they offer. 7 digital offers 30 second to 1 one minute free song sampling, and starving sgudents listen to your hearts content. Slacker radio is free. The playbook comes with two free games from EA games, which are full version software games. The app store also has a growing supply of gaming to productivity apps.
For connectivity the wifi only means the starving student can leach on to other starving students wifi router, with or without his starving roomates permission. Thank you one touch wps button. Make sure you do be polite and say "Yoink", very loud, as to stake your claim on the wifi connection. Fair is fair, if you say yoink and it gives the person a chance to catch you.
Right out of the box you get a free case, which is perfect for free. You also get a free cleaning cloth for free, but the bottom of my t shirt seems to get the job done. There is also free 90 day customer support. There are a lot of other things included free with the playbook, so it is not something that you have to spend money on after you buy it, in order to enjoy it to its full potential.

Nothing.... yet. Still haven't found the case I am looking for in person. Will not buy items like that online, myself.

Like any computer you buy, you have to pay for internet service, software, backup drive, disks, and etc.
If you buy a TV you have to pay a cable or satellite service to have decent programs to watch.
If you buy a car, there are tuneups, insurance, fuel, and maintenance costs.
So, in consideration of dollars spent a Playbook is actually a very cheap investment for a very well made product that you can enjoy for a number of years. Once you buy the extras for it, this becomes a one time investment other than having tethered internet for it, which is included in many of the phone plans anyways...
I'm on my Playbook for a number of hours every day. I mainly do my work with it. I also do personal web browsing and personal emails with it. I think it is one of the best computer investments I have ever made.

I picked up the rapid travel charger, anti-glare screen protector, leather case, gel skin and zip case. Not using the leather case right now but very pleased with the rapid charger!

I've spent almost $200 on accessories already and already eying up another $100 in the near future. It looks like by time I'm done with everything, the 32GB model and all accessories will have cost me $1000. Ouch! Time to get a second job to keep up my Blackberry addiction... seriously the 9900 is coming soon. I can't afford this ish!

I have only purchased the Targus Truss case. Still debating on whether or not to pick up the rapid charger or the dock. Will buy the screen protector as well.

7-8 bucks on screen protectors, about the same on apps.
HAVE A GREAT PLAYBOOK DAY! - 05-26-2011, 10:01 AM #36
Got the OEM Convertible case at time of purchase from BestBuy. Have not spent anything on apps or other things to personalize my Playbook, but I can see that is coming. In the future will be some paid apps and probably a rapid charger along with some nice headphones.
With future updates and apps to increase functionality for my purposes, I can see some fun ahead as my Playbook becomes "mine"; sort of like all the customizing of my bike to make it "mine".Torch 9810, 7.1.0.861
