Transfering files to PB from PC
Hi everyone.
Although this is my first post I have been lurking and learning for a while now.
I have been trying to add music and video ( films ) to my PB so its more useful when I work away from home.
I have also installed DDPB on my PC and done the development thing on the PB then downloaded a couple of apps but cannot transfer then to the PB
No luck with any of it.
Any idea where I need to look as I have spent so much time on this I just want to bin the thing

I'm guessing it might be the lead I am using.
It's a standard BB lead.
Does it need to be a PB lead ? - 12-29-2012, 04:26 PM #7

Does it charge when you plug the usb power adapter? If not, you might have a damaged usb port. A lot of people plug it upside down and damage the port to a point its not usable anymore. Not saying you did but this simple test will tell you more about it.

It works fine with my PB. What I needed to do was upgrade the Blackberry Device Manager to v7.x. I am running 6.x on Blackberry Desktop Software. There is no compatibility issue. I am also using the USB cable that came with my 9550. The only issue I have found is that sometimes the Device Manager software doesn't start up automatically and I need to fire it up from the start menu. Once I do that, drive Z is right there for drag and drop file transfer.

Install Blackberry Desktop Manager just to be safe, it may set up some drivers which allow your Playbook to be recognized.
Then shows up as drive Z and you can drag any media you want over to the video/music folders.
Also check your cable is ok and that Windows is recognizing something plugged in, even if "unkown" and Playbook charging.
If not, your USB port may have been "shut off" and you need a reboot of your PC to get it going again. That happened on my laptop... it was driving me crazy until I noticed no power coming out of it and none of my other devices would work either (like USB thumb drives)... so I had to reboot and then it worked no problem.

Can't be the lead as it connects.
Just can't get it to sync or transfer stuff ....... I've had enough now, been trying on and off for 3 days now. GRRRRRRRRRRR - 12-29-2012, 05:51 PM #11
You might also investigate wifi sharing - no cable, so its a nice way to go.
Generally open Explorer window and enter
\\192.168.1.164\media - where the ip address would be for your pb. There are wifi sharing settings on the pb. - 12-29-2012, 06:13 PM #12

Try wifi tranfer, at least you can get some stuff in there while you sort this issue out.
I would advise uninstalling anything playbook related on your pc (drivers, dd desktop, device manager thingy, etc) and start over. If all this fails, try another pc just to see if its working. - 12-30-2012, 03:10 PM

I have no idea how to transfer via wireless.

I have tried but no success. I have also tried bluetooth and tried the bridge as well from my phone.
Surely there is a simple way of doing this
