Man, I am absolutely AMAZED at how much abuse this thing can take and STILL work somehow! I dropped the tablet on concrete in its neoprene sleeve and wound up with several screen cracks (and part of a crack has a piece of glass chipped off) and still have full touch capability. I even had a can of soda (Mountain Dew Throwback of all things) explode all over it in a toolbag (can see where some of it dried up and lots of LCD deformations in the lower half), and the touchscreen STILL has full responsiveness.

I know I need to have someone capable replace the touchscreen and glass, but this is a VERY durable tablet. I wonder how well even the Nexus 7 would hold up to such abuse? (I know it did better than recent iPads, but SquareTrade needs to test it against the PlayBook.)

Adding an Otterbox is a nice plus... not only you turn your PB into a tank, you can outright clobber people with it

Dude, you're quite clumsy xD anyway, yes bb's are tanks. The other markets are built so that they will last maybe a little, these last years!

I've sent mine flying off the roof or hood of my car on several occasions while juggling materials, groceries, what have you. I use a simple zip-up clam shell case that I got at Walmart for $20 (Case Logic 7" Tablet Case), and the "puffiness" of the design creates what is essentially an air bag for the entire device. Over a year of constant use an not a scratch on it or a single defect in the screen or case, even after multiple drops.

Note: My wife once sent her naked PB flying across the family room floor. Fortunately, she was sitting at the time and the drop was only 24-36 inches. Plus it wasn't a straight drop - more of a "skipping stones" or "Frisbee" type of trajectory. Regardless, the PB emerged unscathed...and I went and bought her an identical case the next time we were in the States.

agree with you. I do try to smash up my 9360 because it hangs when I need to make urgent and highest priority phone calls. I smashed it, throw it to the wall for several times. but nothing happened with my 9360. And I still can use it untill now.

I wonder, if the soft jacket keeps my 9360 safe all the time.

I do agree that the term to use here is "durable". Only the glass part got cracked and chipped. I still maintained FULL usage of the screen's touch digitizer. Same with the soda incident (my toolbag was on the ground, and apparently someone kicked the area the soda was pretty hard). Yeah the glass needs replacement along with the screen (but only due to moisture warping), but the fact it still operates correctly shows it has durability.

You might want to stop dropping it PB are like a cool retro limited edition type tablet now.Soon RIM may have to rerelease them at a higher from their online shop.Due to the way the fire sales meh lets make it sound better more limited editions are getting snapped up
